The Health and Disability Working Group website (www.hdwg.org) has relaunched as a Drupal site. HDWG is a public health research, training and public information resource project of Boston University's School of Public Health.
Though Database Designs has worked from time to time on data collection and analysis projects, this was our first web project together. At the level of strategy, an interesting part of the project was working through how to give the site a unified organizational identity while still preserving the distinctiveness of each of its programs. It also involved blending graphic design work by our own team with that of designers who had worked previously on some of the program pages. Behind the scenes, the hdwg.org main site leads into separate sites with their own data and page sources for the program areas.
We also strategized with the HDWG project team on how to provide a structured, easy to use method for searching the organization's extensive resource directory. Aaron Manire adapted existing Drupal modules to come up with a great solution that we expect will make it easy for different constituencies to find what they need.
The organization deals with difficult and sensitive issues facing critically-challenged populations around access to adequate health care. It's great working with them and we wish the HDWG staff great success with this new site.
