    The New England Regional Council of Carpenters represents 24,000 members working with over 1,500 leading business contractors. Council leadership engaged Database Designs to devise a new web portal to support the intensive research the organization does around construction opportunities.

    For years, NERCC staff printed detailed reports on paper and then brainstormed in team meetings. The new web data systems will enable staff to filter thousands of weekly reports and updates on construction bids to facilitate tracking by contractor, categories of work, location and other factors.

    Boston Day and Evening Academy is a unique, alternative public charter high school located in Roxbury,MA. Its programs are tailored to serve any Boston Public School student who is overage or has dropped out, but wants to come back to school and earn a diploma.

    Well-respected for its regular reports and data, the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center “provides independent research and analysis of state budget and tax policies, as well as economic issues, with particular attention to the effects on low-and moderate-income people.”

    After many years of relying on traditional print publications, the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center wanted an online tool that anyone could use simply and intuitively. Database Designs partnered with MBPC to develop an innovative “Budget Browser" tool for their website.

    The Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) operates within the Secretary of State’s office to provide regulatory, archival and public information support for Massachusetts’ historic and archaeological resources. A series of data collection projects over many years have computerized detailed information previously only available by visiting the State Archives Building in Dorchester.

    Health and Disabilities Working Group (HDWG) is a research, technical assistance and training program of the Boston University School of Public Health that addresses the health care needs of critically-challenged populations. HDWG oversees three major projects: Catalyst Center, the Evaluation Center for HIV and Oral Health (ECHO) and the Peer Education and Evaluation Resource Center (PEER Center).  

  • “The National Center for Fair & Open Testing (FairTest) works to end the misuses and flaws of standardized testing and to ensure that evaluation of students, teachers and schools is fair, open, valid and educationally beneficial.”  

  • ONEMasssachusetts is a recently launched project of the Public Policy Institute. It is “a network in formation of people and organizations sharing a common vision: to rebuild public confidence in our capacity to work together, through our government, to expand economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in Massachusetts.” This advocacy initiative focuses on supporting community activists with information on timely budget and tax policy issues and training them to participate in the public debate.

    The Boston Private Industry Council engages in a broad range of activities of interest to the workforce development community including researchers, policymakers, labor and community groups and the media. These activities include research, program evaluations and policy development. But Boston PIC also provides or oversees direct services. It sets up workplace learning experiences for high school students and recent graduates through a staff of career specialists, employer organizers, and program coordinators and it actively recruits employers to participate in these programs.
