Use Wappalyzer to identify which content management system a website uses

"Wappalyzer shows you which software is used on the page you're currently at." You install it as an add-on to Firefox and then use it to determine whether the site uses Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla or other content management systems, or for that matter, other web tool libraries. Even if you are not techy, you may find it useful in evaluating what your next website should use.

If you use other browsers, you can also use wappalyzer as a bookmarklet.

GMail: paste images into message

As email shifts to webmail, we look for the same desktop convenience. The "dragdropupload" add-on for Firefox allows you to "drop files into attachment boxes instead of browse for them or type in the filename. Drop multiple files and fill all the entries. In some websites it allows to add new upload files: in Google Mail is possible to drop the files directly over the. 'Attach a file link."

Among other things, this makes it really easy to send a snapshot from your windows desktop (such as with snagit) to someone via webmail.

firefox tabs drag and drop

in

If you have a lot of Firefox tabs open, your most basic ones (web mail, etc) wind up way over on the left, while your most recent ones pile up way over on the right. You can click on a tab and drag it so that your most important ones stay clustered together. Works on Mac and Windows.

Also, for the multiple-tab addicted FF user, a simple, though highly customizable add-in to check on is "colorful tabs"

Hyperspeed web searches with Firefox keyboard shortcuts

I'm addicted to Firefox's keyboard shortcuts. You can open a new window, enter the address of a website and close the window without moving your hands out of QWERTY position.

Firefox Smart Keywords to customize web-searches

Use Firefox smart keywords to make it easier to use your favorite search engines to find what you need faster.  Takes about a minute to add a web site to your Smart Keywords list, and then you have an easy way to search websites right from the browser Location bar (where you usually have to type the whole web address).
